Increase in land area used for growing

Education

Increase in land area used for growing food commercially.

If veg consumption increased in line with dietary guidance, the UK would have the chance to grow more vegetables, which would contribute to the economic growth of the sector. At the city level, small-scale community food growing and urban agriculture projects can contribute to increased access to veg and generate jobs. The first hurdle is getting access to land.

Councils and other public bodies can facilitate access to land for food growing, food and farming hubs or other vital infrastructure. Often, Councils and other public institutions have unused land that could be transformed into productive spaces to help feed the city. So let’s get more land into production.
